Manufacturing Process: Continuous Casting. Molten steel is poured into a wide, flat rectangular mold. It solidifies as it is continuously drawn out and cooled with water sprays, eventually being flame-cut into massive rectangular blocks.

Slabs are often exported for further processing or used to fabricate large structural parts like wind turbine towers.
