Hot Rolled Plate

Shape & Use: A thick, flat, heavy rectangular piece of steel (typically much thicker and wider than a standard sheet). It is essential for heavy-duty applications that require immense structural integrity, such as shipbuilding, bridge construction, heavy machinery manufacturing, and the fabrication of pressure vessels and large tanks.

Manufacturing Process: Produced via hot rolling. A heavy, semi-finished steel slab is heated to extreme temperatures (above its recrystallization point) in a reheat furnace. It is then passed back and forth through a series of powerful, heavy rolling mills to gradually compress and flatten it to the desired thickness and width. Finally, it is cooled on a large cooling bed and cut to exact dimensions.
